Quote of the week: “Judge your work by how you feel making it.” Nicholas Wilton
Post of the week: My bff, Ariel Lawhon, was on Good Morning America this week because her book, The Frozen River, was picked as the GMA Book Club December pick! Here’s the link to see it if you missed it— well worth the watch!
What I’m reading: Slowly working my way through Homecoming by Kate Morton. It’s a pretty massive book (560 pgs) and I haven’t had much time to read this week, as I’ve been editing my own work in progress.
What I’m listening to: My Apple Music catalog on shuffle
What I’m watching: I finished all the available Law And Order (the original) episodes, which felt like an accomplishment! My husband and I are watching the new season of Fargo as episodes are available, and while I like it, the creepy factor has me on the fence about finishing all 10 episodes. We shall see. We temper the intensity of Fargo with an episode of Scrubs, which we are working our way back through slowly.
What I’m googling: I had to google to find this photo after I saw it on Instagram. It was my husband’s birthday this week so it resonated!
What I’m cooking: I threw together the best vegetable soup last week— ground beef, a package of frozen mixed veggies, some chopped onion, beef broth, tomato sauce, and crushed tomatoes. Added some garlic salt and Italian seasoning, brought it to a boil, then let it simmer for a couple of hours and it was SO good.
What I’m following (true crime): I’ve spent my You Tube time this week watching my favorite Vlogmas folks, so I haven’t watched much true crime this week. Sometimes you just need a break from all the terrible things humans can do to each other.
What I’m learning: Writing is hard. And no matter how many times you go through the same manuscript, there are always things to catch that you don’t know how got by you in the first place!
What I’m writing: Edits. (See above)
Gratitude: There was a lot this week— a fun weekend with friends in and around our little beach town just soaking up the season, being with favorite writing friends in Nashville, TN, safe travels, coming home, meeting a deadline, Vlogmas videos at the end of the day, fun stuff I’m looking forward to, the blessings of God, and wine.
Photo from the week:
(Though I’ve adapted it, this format was originally inspired by author Kim Hooper’s blog. I loved her novel No Hiding in Boise. You should check it out.)
Loved seeing you this week. And now I'm questioning whether Fargo is for me...
I love the quote you chose this week! And to your own line, “writing is hard,” I couldn’t agree more. I’m very happy for you to be so close! And thank you for linking to Ariel’s GMA interview. My gosh wasn’t she amazing? I’ve caught her other appearances on social but had missed the TV one. Reading her novel now! I hope you enjoy Kate Morton’s book, Mary Beth. I love all of her work too! 🍷
