The Sunday Six
I Will Tell You This: I've got six things to share with you today that I think are pretty fun. .
I haven’t started Feud: Capote vs The Swans yet, but I can't wait to dig in. The casting of the swans has my complete attention— Calista Flockhart! Demi Moore! Diane Lane! Molly Ringwald! I was surprised to find out the book was not inspired by this book by Melanie Benjamin, but instead was based on this one. Still, if you’re interested in the show, Benjamin’s novel might be worth picking up.
I spent this weekend at a writer’s retreat with some of my favorite people. I am sure I will share more about it later but, once the Super Bowl is over, I’m sleeping for about four days. I love social events but they wear me out. (Can I get an Amen from my fellow introverts?)
I am reading I Have Some Questions For You by Rebecca Makkai. The premise sounded so intriguing but when the book came out I saw some pretty negative reviews, which put me off. Then I finally started seeing some positive ones, and when I saw it for $1.99 on Kindle, I decided to give it a try. So far, I am sucked into the mystery of what really happened to Thalia all those years ago.
I am addicted to Blistex lip treatment all year long, but in the winter I need something a bit harder-hitting. I can recommend the Neutrogena Overnight Lip Treatment. I say that because when I was out of town recently I left it at home so I couldn’t use it. I saw a definite difference without it! I get mine at my local Walgreens, but if you can’t find it, I did find a two-pack on Amazon for a comparable price.
This post has a personal connection for me. My daughter works for the coffee company Robert Downey Jr partnered with to create his new coffee. I am so proud of her for a lot of reasons— this was just a recent one.
Speaking of my daughter, she recently texted me for advice for a friend looking for a planner. I cast about for the just right answer, and came up with the Inkwell Press Planner. If you don’t have a planner for 2024 yet— but are recognizing a need for one as the year really gets going— I would say to give this one a try. It’s got room for monthly, weekly, and daily planning, plus a generous amount of notes pages at the end. It also has the boxes for each day that you can designate for meals, or gratitude, or keeping track of shows watched or books read— whatever works for you. Plus it measures at about 6x9 inches, making it a good size without being unwieldy. If you carry a medium to larger purse it should fit in there for days on the go. I always take my planner with me if I’m heading out the door, so portability is a big draw for me.
Hope you guys have had a good weekend and don’t have too bad a case of the Sunday Scaries as we head into a new week. Here’s hoping the coming week is good to all of us— Lord willing, I’ll see you back here next Sunday!
